Accompanied by myself and Mr. Rahim Aka, S.Pt., M.P., the course instructors, the students had the opportunity to explore various aspects of goat and sheep production. Key learning areas included barn construction, barn cleanliness, animal health management, waste disposal, feed management, and general livestock care.

The visit wasn’t just a learning opportunity; it was also a chance for meaningful discussions about livestock management and the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world situations. The students eagerly delved into various topics and engaged in thoughtful discussions about issues faced on the ground, with insights later fueling classroom conversations.

By 12:00 PM, the visit concluded and the group returned to Kendari, enriched with valuable insights applicable to both their academic endeavors and the future management of livestock.

This field trip gave students a deeper understanding of the importance of hands-on practice in sustainable and efficient animal production. Additionally, it strengthened the connection between academic knowledge and practical experience, allowing students to witness and learn from industry experts in the field. Going forward, we hope to organize similar trips more frequently to further enhance our students’ competencies in animal husbandry.
